Hey guys, I am going this afternoon to buy a TabletPC. I am finally going to bite the bullet. I have one question tho, does Services for UNIX run on the Tablet PC? I have looked at the site but it doesnt seem to say anything on the System Requirements page.

Yep. As long as it runs on XP, it'll run on the Tablet PC.
-
Good luck with it. I just got a new one last week.. Loved it. It was so cool, my boss took it..
-
Yes it will. I've been using a TabletPC convertible for the last year, and I'll never go back.
-
I told my wife about the convertable ones a few months back.. I mentioned we could get a docking station, and set it up so it would be a desktop when we needed it (albeit slower), a Laptop when needed, and the tablet. She was throughly disinterested.. Until I brought one home.. Now, she wants to get rid of her Mac for one..

The app that sold her on the tablet? Not OneNote, not the inking tool.. No.. It was Inkball...

I'm working all day on a tablet pc, it's great, i take every where, i like to use OneNote where i meet a client about a project, it records everything, so when you write something and recrod it, you can then come back later and click on any paragraph or drawing and hear what it was recorded that time. it's great.
I think Microsoft is the first and only company that make it's products not only technologically good (thats where the other companies are also quite good) but they make product that's good for it's users. -

The one thing I dread is when Apple comes out with their Tablet / similar item, how it will be heralded as a technological wonder and how Microsoft will be copying it for their own use.. (Remember Redmond, start your photocopiers, anyone..?}
{/FlameBait}
Not starting a flame war, but I just hate hearing crap like that..

I think no one will say microsoft copied apple on any tablet pc like techs like that on a current tablet pc. But the reason that we have the whole redmond start your photocopiers is that there are a lot of similarities between microsofts techs after apple one were released.

You'r right, here is what i explain to pepole, Everybody comes up with good technological inventions, and right microsoft wasn't the first to make the UI, "But" the difference is that Microsfot has the vision how to make the user use it, the same with XML it's wasn't Microsoft that invented XML but they had the Vision to implemet it and the they saw what benefit we can have of it, versus the other companies are only excited with brain storming things and mostely forget from the End User
I explain to my freinds, that there is 3 types of companies
1) that tell for the users "Wait! I made you a calculator we think it's anough for you, wait another 20 years till we finish playing around and will give you some stuff, And yea! don't forget it's good quality
2) that says "We hear pepole need this and this feature, ok! we will make it, WOW!
3) Microsoft say "Come on! we will show you what you need, look... didn't think of that!! ha? "
The same think was with the palm, They (Palm) always kept sayin 'Pepole don't need litle computers in thier pocket, they need a "simple" orgenizer that's not "Complex" and so on.. Microsoft said Come on we will show you what you should expect, here is a full color PocketPC it has Audio, Video..... and now everybody looks for it

SFU works just fine on a Tablet. I run it all the time.

It also works great in political debates. I use it all the time.
Sometimes I get my * kicked, but generally if I squeal like a pig people get so confused I can run away.

They only had the first-generation Tablets when I bought my Dell notebook. I'm quite sure my next computer will be a Tablet though.

I've got 3 tablet PC's and I can truly say that they've changed my life. I can now do everything that previously required me to be in the office from the road.
I just cant wait until we have Verizon's Broadband (EVDO) in the Detroit Market!
