Hmm...after logging into the VSIP members' site, I saw the following announcement regarding the availability of VS 2005 Beta 1:
The Visual Studio Beta 1 has released and is available for download by MSDN subscribers. We will also send you CDs containing the beta. Due to the additional manufacturing and shipping time, you should expect to receive the CDs
by mid-July. You will be able to use this SDK to program against Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1.
In order to help you speed up your development process against Beta 1, we have scheduled a Developer Lab from July 26th to July 29th on Redmond campus. Your company’s VSIP technical contact should have received
an email invite. If you have any questions or would like to RSVP, please send email to
lank@microsoft.com.
If the CDs and Developer Lab are going to be delivered mid and late-July respectively, I don't expect Microsoft to release Visual Studio 2005 on the middle of 2005 (which was the originally announced by MSFT). Now, it just makes sense that VS 2005 will ship
at the same time as SQL Server 2005.
Can anyone from the VS team verify this?
