Witness IronPython, an open-source implementation for Python on top of .NET. Surely, this could not rock any harder than if Python itself were to become manifest as a hot green space amazon with hooters that were as
big as the sky is wide!*
Yet witness the misfortune that has befallen IronPython: cruelly, development has come to a standstill and the project is stillborn, shortly after (before?) Jim Hugin joined the ranks of Microsoft.**
Hey, can we get a Channel 9 interview with him? Put'em on the grill for ignoring IronPython, demmit.
*Sexy voice and long legs sold seperately.
**Was actually hoping IronPython would become an offical Microsoft project, with Whidbey support 'n' every-thang, but everyone dreams - even about sexy space amazons.

I think someone should keep the project going. Since it's open source you can just take the code and continue building it. Python was my first programming language, I started it around a few weeks ago. So this IronPython sounds pretty good to me, I'm downloading it right now and I'll play around with the source.
Of course Channel9 can get an interview with him. Channel9 could get an interview with God if they wanted to, as long as he works at Microsoft
EDIT: Visiting his site, and reading it makes me think that he'd be the last person to jump from open source to Microsoft (besides Linus). I wonder how big the check must have been to pull him in. He's the creator of Jython and other open source programs, I think an interview with the man his needed. What's even more wierd is that there is no trace of news of him going to Microsoft, his sites just stopped, they weren't removed, they just stopped dead. This video would be one I would actually watch (I've only watched one or two videos because I'm on dialup). -

Ummmm... The Channel9 team don't want an interview with him... Yes, that's it. They don't want to do an interview with him...

The figured that as Bill can't code/is not an engineer it would offend us to stick him in front of a camera.. just like one of this [evil] marketing types.

Yeah, man, I totally want to see an interview with him, you know, smells good!
Boo is a nice alternative, but has a pretty small community. ;( -
I suppose if there was real demand for it, someone else would do an implementation of Python for .NET
Maybe we will be suprised and you will get a download on MSDN for the next version of IronPython (and it will also work with Mono).
Next they will hire the developers of SharpDevelop and thus we will lose any real competition to Visual Studio. (although to do that AlphaSierraPapa may have to be assimilated) -

Better still if there was a real demand anyone could use and extend IronPython.

And with Steve Ballmer? Developers, developers, developers, developers...
-
Except that not everyone is a good language creator: producers, and consumers. ;(

The life of IronPython hasn't come to a stop, but Jim has been busy getting ramped up to the MSFT lifestyle and understanding how to make our next release of .NET more dynamic-language-friendly.
I'll ping Jim and see if he can post an update on the IronPython.com website, ok? -

That would be good. Thanks
Who shall continue IronPython now... Is it Channel9?
Loadsgood. -
IronPython? never heard of it
-
It looks like the Mono boys have got a little tired of waiting ... (in a nice-ish way).
-
MS is using $$ to keep .NET proprietary.
Money is the root of all evil! -

Its been awhile. Any news yet?
By the way, money is what lets me buy nice clothes and wear pants.

What if we lived the socialist ideal?
The state would provide nice clothes and pants

Then I'd become so lazy and sloth-like that I would have no urge to excel and use my coding kung-fu to tackle the world's greatest problems, only to fail miserably and become a crying wreck on the floor. ;(
