Do not be fooled by this amateurish impersonator
I am the real Bill Gates
My identity-theft-prevention droids will bring him to justice shortly -
And then they'll come and hunt you down too under the zeroth law, just like in I, Robot.
Along with all the other impersonators. -

Hi, Mr Gates, can YOU get me a refund for the software your company unduly made me buy?
Have your identity-theft-prevention droids get me an address where I can send the shrink wrapped OEM XP from dell and a copy of the sales receipt to get a refund please.
If you dont like it, dont buy it. And in the case of dell, just dont buy it. Its time to get a real computer. -

It was a laptop, not a desktop.
Since you can't really roll-your-own notebook, you don't really have a choice, you have to buy them from OEMs.

Actually, there is, unless you’re buying bottom of the line computers. There prices are much higher then there competitors, if you want a cheep laptop that’s really good, use TigerDirect. -
Beer28 wrote:EDIT: If I can just get the $30-40 back for my WindowXP OEM license I paid for but did not want or use, I would be perfectly happy right now. I'll even send microsoft the still shrink wrapped WindowsXP cd with a copy of the receipt. I just want them to give me my freaking money back.
Beer, you seriously can't believe that either of those users are Bill Gates, please shut up and stop complaining about the need for you to get a refund. The fake Bill Gates users can't help you, C9 can't help heck the only person who can help you is the person/company you bought the OEM license of WinXP off, even then they would have refund/exchange policies that would restrict you from getting any of that sweet mulah back if you have used it or whatever.
Please Beer relise that not everything on the internet is true, including things that Linux zealots say. The 9teamers would do up a huge parade if the real Bill Gates was coming to town and willing not to disguise himself.
Gosh darn it Beer.

Woah buddy, take the Windows OS back to where you bought it from. That's what Microsoftians would tell you. I think there is a bit in the EULA that says return it to the seller for a full refund if you do not agree with this EULA. Just because you haven't been pleased the way you want by Microsoft doesn't automatically make them evil, especially if you have a problem with a software that came from an affiliate company...
More to the point, prove it to me that Microsoft doesn't care. I want you to convince me, in a lateral coherent manner, that Microsoft is the evil coperation you say they are and that they don't care about consumers.
Do you dare to prove your point forever?

Beer28 wrote:If they cared they'd get me an address where I can send them back their shrinkwrapped and unused merchandise along with a copy of the receipt for a refund. period.
Maybe they don't know that you want to return it? Do you think they should include their address with every computer for returning the OS? Do you really think they are evil because they don't include an address?
Beer28 wrote:
The dell guys at linux world told me that microsoft made them put their OS on every machine to combat piracy because they said that microsoft said that if it wasn't on every machine, that people would pirate it.
I use linux so that's irrelevant.
Can you get an official statement from a high up Microsoftian that that is the exact reason they install Windows on all Dell machines and not for other reasons?
Beer28 wrote:
They make people that don't even use their software pay upwards of fifty dollars while they let people in indonesia or whatever buy it for a dollar after they'd been using it illegally for years.
Were you forced by death to buy Microsoft software? You bought it, it is your fault not theirs. You choose to buy it, that doesn't make them evil. Well I'd rather have people use legitimate versions of my products rather than ones that are pirated and might have bugs or unknown virii/trojans in them. Plus I know that some Indonesians don't have much money since they have acquired pirated versions of my software so I will help them out and sell it a ligitimate for cheap.
Beer28 wrote:
That doesn't sound like somebody that cares about customers, it sounds like a greedy corporation that wants to buy into a new demographic any way they can regardless.
I think a corporation who wants its customers to have the full experience of its software, without trojans/virii built in is a good company.
Beer28 wrote:
I just want Microsoft to take it back, and get me a refund period. Dell made the hardware, Microsoft made the software and they need to take it back because I didn't want, and or use it. I'm looking through the plastic shrink wrap and it says it's manufactured in the USA by microsoft.
Just because you are posting this on a site owned by Microsoft doesn't mean the right people to help you are listening, they might be too busy or never even heard of Channel9 to post an address.
Beer, you need to email microsoftians (preferably in the Canadian area) and tell them your problem and they will refer you in the right direction.
Pick it up and take it on a plate.

Beer28 wrote:I'm sick of waiting around for information, I'm just going to send it to microsoft in ontario tommorow with a copy of the receipt by registered mail and let them know that I did not agree to the EULA, I did not boot into windows XP and they need to get me a refund and respect my rights as a consumer not to be forced to pay for piracy in indonesia by forcing 99% of laptop hardware in this country to have windowsXP preinstalled.
The guy from Dell at linux world did tell me that and I'll testify to it under oath. They said that Windows was soooooooooooo great that every single last person would just die to get a pirated copy if they sold the hardware without an OS. They told me this AT linux world.
I think they're retarded. Not in the technical sense, but in the pop culture sense. VERY.
I think the dumber you are the better your chances at making it in a large corporate environment.
I'm glad to hear you got off your can rather than expecting a Microsoftian to come to your door willing to take it off your hands and give you a refund right then and there.
But Beer you can twist his words and he could've made that up and we are talking about Linux lovers AT Linux world here, like they are known to say dog doo doo about Microsoft now and again
What makes you think they are retarded in a ppop culture sense? (Frankly I don't get what the beep you mean
)
Ah untrue, do you think Bill Gates got to be the richest man in the world by being dumb and not being able to code and not buying/selling well on the stock market and not being able to make software that is good enough that millions have bought their products? Do you think the same for all the other Executives at Microsoft or any other company?
Beer, you seriously need a tour around the Microsoft campus.
Loadsgood.
