Seeming as I love live discussion so much, I thought I'd create a Channel9 IRC channel
Anyone who wants some chit-chat or maybe some dev help, just pop into
#channel9 on EFNet
Ciao!

You install an IRC client, such as mIRC.

Get an IRC client?
I use vIRC: http://www.virc.net
Other people often use mIRC: http://www.mirc.com
Linux users are akin to http://www.xchat.org/
...And the more 1980's of us might be inclined to access IRC over Telnet

The very 80's of us...
I don't think that the guys of C9 like the idea of a IRC channel.

Why do you think so?

True, IRC channels don't have the best reputation. I left IRC (Undernet more exactly) a few years ago. There were too many 'lamers' (to use IRC slang
).
An alternative to IRC would be nice, though. -
#Channel9 on EFNet now has 15 users now, keep it up

IRC is just fine for me. I have been "supporting" MSFT's products for YEARS no on EfNet.
I let everyone know about the new channel, in #mscorlib, #asp, #asp.net, #ms.net
Head count is up to 13 so far!

If you want a network without lamers, then Freenode (irc.freenode.net) would be a good choise, many open source projects are in there too.

The 200 or so community members that we have on EfNet are usually pretty good about being lame-asses.
Of course there are your exceptions from time to time but its easy to just stamp them out.

The channel has now reached a stable size with bots as well
Can we get a link to us now, C9 staff people?
-
I usually hang out on Joi Ito's IRC channel, but heck, I'll drop by a little later. Gotta load up a video first.

Excellent. I'm there! Joined last night. I think it would be great if the irc support channels would get more publicity. They were a huge help for me as I was first learning how to develop.

Is the thing still online? I can't join here, since they installed a firewall here

-
Besirc is free (and will always be).

How do you access IRC over Telnet?
