I heard the original version on the radio today and knew a woman did a version of it but I couldn't remember who it was. Obviously I just searched on Youtube when I got home and found it was Bette Midler but what did we do before search engines?

Yup. Much Music (in Canada) used to play it allot back when they actually played videos.
