For those interested the SP1 for the .NET Framework 3.5 is RTM along with SQL Server 2008. In fact if you install SQL Server 2008 (Developer edition at least) you will find that it also installs the RTM version of Frameowrk .NET 3.5 SP1. For those interested
you can find it on the SQL Server 2008 disk in the folder \x86\redist\DotNetFrameworks\dotNetFX35 ![]()
Now we just need Visual Studio 2008 SP1 to get all the sweet designer features and updates ![]()

Really? What's included in the final framework then?

I tried installing the SQL 2008 Dev. edition on my dev. box today, without luck, it requires the VS2008 SP1 to be released first.

One thing in the VS and .Net update is a chnage to allow a click-once app to not force a full framework update on a user, based on what the app uses it will be able to download less of the framework. for example if the user has 2.0 and you are trageting 3.5 but are not using WPF the the user does not have to update thier pc with all of 3.5wkempf said:Really? also I think the app startup time is supposed to be improved in general.
and WPF gets a bunch of perf fixes.
other stuff but I can't recall details... -
All of that was in the beta. I'm curious about the stuff that was discussed as being in SP 1, but that didn't make the beta. Such as the DataGrid.figuerres said:

That doesn't discuss what's in the SP at all. So it's not only "clear as mud", but totally irrelevant.wisemx said:

I'm currently poking around with reflector. So far, I don't see anything that wasn't in the beta.

Well you wouldn't, betas are just testing & bugfixes...wkempf said:

For now I'm sticking with RC0, which does run with VS2008 Pro; I have not installed SP1 beta.wkempf said:

I've got to know...In that profile image of yours, what the heck is going on there?

Uhm... I'm using reflector on the released (with SQL 2008) FX SP1. It's not beta. Oh, and the beta DID include new features, and not just bugfixes.Lloyd_Humph said:

Well, actually, the reception afterward. I was married on Halloween eve, and we had a costume reception. Most people, when they received the invite, thought we were nuts and told us they'd not wear a costume. At the reception, though, nearly everyone came in costume, and afterward they all told us it was the best reception they'd ever been to. -
