Seriously, the first item - stop using Skydrive. Try going to Mesh.com. I use it as a folder and share that folder with other people via Mesh. Specifically, my wife uses my laptop for recording podcasts of our two year old son. But, she edits it on her desktop. My folder is in the mesh and I shared it with her Mesh ID. it all 'just works'.  There is no reason we can't backup to it. And yes, I can access the folder from the web as well.
