And all the fanbois harp on about how an absence of this kinda stuff being what makes apple so great...

Well, 2 things:
1. Are your surprised? It's really naive to think that Apple doesn't have UI inconsistencies.2. You are providing 1 screenshot. That's extremely statistical significant, amirite? -
Heh, when only a few years ago Apple's web browser looked like this and its email app looked like this, and its pro apps have their own unique look, I think visual consistency is a pretty silly argument for any Apple fan to make (and I'm an Apple fan.)

Long Zheng has a whole web site, the Aqua Taskforce, for quirks in Mac OS X.
-
Apples apps transformed a lot through os x, they started off with that weird horizontal pin stripe, then went to a gun metal and then flat dull current.. tons of their apps look different as well - inconsistency isn't such a huge deal but in vista it was just really obvious in some cases that no consideration was there.
-
Im guessing the fanboys wont be running i tunes or quicktime on a windows box though.
That screenshot isnt from osx. -
I'm no apple-fanboy, but I don't think inconsistency over "a few years" ago qualifies as proper inconsistency in UI design and development. Everything looked like crap a few years agoCyberGeek said:Heh, when only a few years ago Apple's web browser looked like this and its email app looked like this, and its pro apps have their own unique look, I think visual consistency is a pretty silly argument for any Apple fan to make (and I'm an Apple fan.)

Totally valid, I selected the older examples because they were far more glaring than current examples. Apple has recently been dramatically improving UI consistency throughout its OS, particularly with the release of Leopard, though issues still remain.jonathansampson said:

Wait, Apple made even that part of iTunes look like a native Vista app? Unexpected.
-
It is not in the OS, it is in Windows.
(and I think some of you are taking this far to seriously)
EDIT: before anyone points out the type... you know what I mean
EDIT2: What was this comment going on about? Not the thread... just my comment here... I've just reread it and it makes no sense to me...

no, they make it look like a fake messenger style app - the buttons don't glow right for vistaalwaysmc2 said:Wait, Apple made even that part of iTunes look like a native Vista app? Unexpected.

I think the most utterly shocking inconsistent UI of ANY program ... is Lotus Notes!GoddersUK said:

It is so bad it is halarious. Even with the new version, 8.0.2, it's still really bad!
