I actually like that he helps keep me informed of what the competition is doing. I'm not really all that interested in getting just a Microsoft view of the world, I'd rather know which direction the innovation might be coming from next.
Sure he had the occassional habit of trailing off into 6 or 7 continuous posts talking to himself and ranting about Mandrake, but sometimes he was informative.

I had an offline email conversation with Beer about thread hijacking and frequent orthogonal posting behavior. He decided that he'd rather not participate at all than tone done his too frequent and invasive rhetorical semantics. Note that I in no way encouraged him to abandon the community. Rather, I let him know that I appreciated having a strong alternative view point on Channel 9. Respect, like security in software, outweighs everything else...
