Always remember... Microsoft is a company and company's are in business to make a profit.  Nothing wrong there for sure.  However, money is the motivator and ;'ol VB 6 (which I preferred because of it's very approachable interface for one... when I was doing VB6 "tinkering") is long past making big cash returns for M.S.  Thus, a new platform/product rises to meet the demands of being a company profits!
