I thought for a second that you had Vista installed on your Eee and was going to call you crazy...
But no, that's XP with a Vista wallpaper. You're safe.
Interested to see how it turns out: I might be installing it onto a similar machine soon too. -
Win7 beta runs really well on my Acer Aspire One (1.6Ghz Atom, 1.5Gb RAM, 160Gb HD). Seriously. It's *that* coolCannotResolveSymbol said:I thought for a second that you had Vista installed on your Eee and was going to call you crazy...

Now to prep the thumb drive to boot off... I hope it's the same steps as doing it for XPMinh said:

Oh cool. Thanks blowdart... I'll see if it applies to my system...blowdart said:

Win 7 runs great on my 1.x GHz, 512MB RAM LifeBook. Of course, there's no glass and related UI experience given the low grade graphics card, but it really performs well and has yet to bluescreen. Impressive indeed. Nice work, Paolo and team. I know for a fact that improvements in desktop search is in part responsible for much better perf (along with the great work of the DWM and graphics team). Vista simply can't run on this device.PaoloM said:

Kudos to the Win 7 team!

So you're saying desktop search in vista is a CPU hugger? *duck*Charles said:

You know what I'm saying... In order for Win 7 to be capable of running in constrained environments (ones that Vista struggles with...), many teams had to rework their components to require less processing and memory consumption to the get their
chores done. Desktop search is one of these components. Great engineering went into figuring out how to maximize search capability without requiring most of the systems available resources
Paolo is much more qualified to explain than I am, though I know I'm right

Yup, you're saying moving Paolo from a coding role was a sound move.Charles said:blowdart said:*snip*

Any chance of getting Paolo or someone else on the team for an interview about the changes that were made in search for low-resource environments?Charles said:blowdart said:*snip*
