If I use the 360 as an extender and have DRM'd subscription music files on the source PC, will the 360 be able to play them?
Does anyone know?

I *think* as an extender then yes, it will use the license from the media center. I don't think it will play through the standard 360 media player.

You are right, I tested it and it works, but only if you've purchased the item.
Subscription based items, like ones from Rhapsody to go, don't seem to work... which is a drag
How about the xbox team explores the possibility of integrating a subscription based music service into the 360?
That would rock hard. -
Rhapsody uses it's own special DRM, unfortunately.phreaks said:

Zune and (when it existed) URGE subscription music work/worked perfectly. -

Urge is still around? -
Nope, Rhapsody bought URGE, so i got a Zune. It’s a shame… URGE had a lot of promise. It’s integration with Windows Media Player was amazing, and I expected further integration with Windows Media Player (for browsing their catalogue). I do like my Zune, though. It has a better interface than my Creative Zen Vision, and the Zune marketplace is beautiful.foreachdev said:

Didn't the AMG integration with WMP9 (which was georgous btw) hint that URGE would be even worse?alwaysmc2 said:

I've noticed that any third-party Online Service integration with desktop programs in Windows rarely lasts longer than 2 years and regularly ends before the product even leaves the Mainstream support phase.
Examples:
- CDDB services in the Deluxe CD Player in Plus!98
- AMG in WMP9
- MSN Music in WMP10
- MSN in Windows 95
- MSN in Windows 98
- Online Services and Active Desktop in Windows 98
- MS Gaming Zone in various Microsoft Games
...as a result I always turn off online services since they're a waste of time.
And in 5 years time all those web-enabled features in Vista are going to end up being totally useless. Upgrade treadmill, anyone?
Whatever happened to software good enough it'll last you your lifetime?
