From article:
The Apple CEO says he'll be out until June, and that his health problems are "more complex" than he originally thought. All stock trading on AAPL has been suspended until further notice.

What do you mean "suspended"?
I guess Apple itself can choose not to trade, but other people who own APPL stocks can buy/sell right? Anyway, the article mentions trading resumes after hour... and currently down 10% -
I seriously hope that he gets better! I liked to watch his keynotes

Actually from many accounts, they say Steve is somewhat of an a**hole... at least a tyrant...Ion Todirel said:

What happened is the stock was halted to where no one can trade the stock. This is a common occurance in the market whenever there is a major news item that comes out regarding a company. This way investors have time to digest the information and everything happens in an orderly fashion.

I hate to hear this happening to Steve and his family. I think its more complex than anyone anticipated. My uncle died of Pancreatic cancer in 1996 and it was almost the same situation. Heres hoping medical techniques have advanced over the times where Steve wont be dead in 4 months.Rd_Falcon said:Minh said:*snip*What happened is the stock was halted to where no one can trade the stock. Hold up there buddy, you don't know the exact details of the situation, so saying he'll be dead in 4 months isn't entirely accurate.rjdohnert said:

I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, and I do hope he proves to be an exception to the rule but...
Facts are that he was diagnosed and treated, surgically, in 2004 for pancreatic cancer.
The 5-year post-diagnosis mortality rate (from the stats I've gathered) is... 95%
Unfortunately, he is right on track. -
How do you know steve jobs is a nice guy? the only time you see him is when hes acting to try and sell you something overhyped that you don't usually need.. the only other times I've seen him he's been pretty arrogant.
It sounds like bad news but hopefully its something he can overcome. -
Don't panic! Steve's cancer was of a very rare kind, an islet carcinoma, which is curable surgically with a very good prognosis. He underwent surgery which supposedly got rid of the cancer completely. Had he been diagnosed with a more common form of pancreatic cancer, he'd be already long dead. Still, there must be something wrong with him, so I wish el Jobso a speedy recovery.elmer said:I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, and I do hope he proves to be an exception to the rule but...

It's odd, because Steve never actually did anything except act like a douche and ride on the coat tails of people that had actual skills.
Steve is his own brand, and it's easy to see how dangerous that can be to a company.
-
I don't see any major change in AAPL other then what happened to basically the entire stock market during the credit crunch.May28th2018 said:

Apple should never have allowed itself to become a one man show. A succession plan should have been made public as soon as it was announced that he had cancer several years ago.
Fortunately, the Finance press is run by folk who have probably got a lot of Apple stock, which is why they're all screaming 'Don't panic! It's business as usual!'
Which of course, it is; as you say, Jobs is little more than a marketing tool these days.

Yes, Jobs has historically had a good eye for what makes a successful product, but he's not the one filing the patents or coming up with the crazy new ideas. He's a marketer at heart (and always has been: even back in Apple's early years, Wozniak was the technical genius who make stuff happen; Jobs was the one who could sell it).
Don't get me wrong here: I'm not saying that he's not largely responsible for Apple's success. He's got a great intuition for what will work in the marketplace and has the marketing skill to sell anything to anyone. But he isn't an engineer or an inventor or anything: he is a "marketing tool" in every respect.
