I know the link on the download site only works with WinXP/2003/Vista/2008, but is there another place to download it for 7? Will it appear on Windows Update?

Well.. the blog post explicity states that they will not have a version for Win7.
Note that the IE8 Release Candidate is for Windows Vista, XP, and Server only; Windows 7 users will get an updated IE8 with the next update of Windows 7
You might try to install the Vista version, but I guess it won't work because IE 8 contains Win7 native code (like the ones interacting with the Taskbar thumbnails and progress notification). -
It won't work. There is no way to do this.sushovande said:Well.. the blog post explicity states that they will not have a version for Win7.Note that the IE8 Release Candidate is for Windows Vista, XP, and Server only; Windows 7 users will get an updated IE8 with the next update of Windows 7

It has always been this way with beta versions of IE and Windows. There is nothing we can do except wait for a new build of Windows 7. -
Pretty sure IE8 on Win7 is a totally different beast, different schedule and everything.

CreamFilling512 is right, the version of Internet Explorer 8 that is included with the Windows 7 Beta is a pre-release candidate build of IE. It’s basically the IE8 Beta 2 plus end user features that are only available on Windows 7 plus many fixes based on feedback Microsoft got from IE8 Beta 2 usage. To learn a little more about the version of Internet Explorer included with Windows 7, check this site out: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2009/01/10/ie8-in-windows-7-beta.aspx
If you're running XP or Vista and want to give the RC1 version of Internet Explorer a try, you can download it at this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/worldwide-sites.aspx?ocid=ie8_sm_a
Hope this was helpful!
Thanks,
Cody
