I dont mind it (except for the copycat acusations theyll have to go through)
It's too bad they turned My Computer (etc) into a generic...bland... iconless ...peronalityless word - in Vista and 7.
My documents, my computer, my phone. no copying at all...except they removed it all doh!
* that "my" stuff was actually a good alternative to apples "i" stuff brand wise (as well as first)

Except they put "My" back in Windows 7 (sort of)

mine says documents pictures music computer... -
I still don't get this service. Wasn't Mesh supposed to take care of this?
-
The libraries don't have the "My" prefix, but the internationalized names of the underlying folders do. But the actual names of the underlying folders don't. And then there's the junction points...jamie said:

Make sense? -
Live Mesh was supposed to do alot of things. But I guess the other teams at MS have to actually ship something and can't wait for Ozzie's grand vision to be realized.Bas said:I still don't get this service. Wasn't Mesh supposed to take care of this?
And it sounds like "My Phone" is just backup. No web UI (or Live integration) or sync to desktop over the net. Lame.

Would I see My Phone folder along with My Documents folder.... hummm............
Yeah, it sounds like iPhone. I almost thought My Phone is Zune Phone or something. -
Yeah, and the Mobile Me logo looks like the Windows Me logo. I think people are looking for things too much.magicalclick said:Would I see My Phone folder along with My Documents folder.... hummm............

If they want to compete with iPhone they should start by porting NT to ARM and dropping this CE garbage.

CE Garbage? Care to elaborate?CreamFilling512 said:If they want to compete with iPhone they should start by porting NT to ARM and dropping this CE garbage.
Compact Edition of the framework? Compact Edition of SQL?
Both r0x0r in my opinion,....
But hey, I am just a lonely developer! -
Microsoft is pitching SQL-CE as a replacement for JET for when applications need a quick 'n' dirty RDBMS. That'd be alright if it weren't for the atrocious support in VS (I get error messages about "ALTER TABLE" not being a supported SQL command) and features that put it on parity with SQLite.Maddus Mattus said:

Anyway, I'm sure the CE kernel and stuff is fine, it's just the userland Windows Mobile stuff built on top of it that's gone rotten with age.

Are you using the 3.5 SP1 version? You even get to use sub-queries with that!W3bbo said:

I agree with you that it's old stuff, but it's still a platform that is backwards compatible on millions of devices and thus being a platform worth investing time and money on. Let's see how the iPhone evolves when version 3.0 and 4.0 roll out.
My point is; creating a new platform is easyer because you lack the history. Keeping software on par with current trends and backwards compatible is a major pain and I think Windows Mobile is pulling it off, doesnt say that they could do it better,...
