while i don't believe in man-made global warming (at least not to the degree of what the hysteria recently is about), i do think it at least brought some good points:

like making people more aware of economic use of energy and resources - after all oil is gone rather soon and i would rather prefer that rest to be used for synthetic products (like the cases of our countless electronic devices) than just wasting it by burning it.

also good in changing to cleaner energy is the slow reduction of pollution - especially air-pollution (and i don't really mean CO2, but the far worse CO1). the air here in central europe is quite acceptable, but i seriously don't want to live in huge cities in the USA or China - wouldn't be able to breath there.


and at last, instead of putting money into creating more fission energy or random short populistic shots at renewable energy (like biofuel which would require an unimaginable amount of farmland [which then can't be used to produce food] to replace coal and/or oil), i would prefer our first world to more actively support the research of fusion energy as that would solve all our problems as it produces no toxic/radioactive byproducts.
