It's been up and down like a bee's wing this morning. Anyone else, or just me?
(typing quick to post this before it goes down again) ...

yes, it has been really messed up. I've been working on it since 2am trying to get it back up and running... and I *think* we are doing better now...

I'm getting a WLID error on c8 if that's at all related to the problems with cp?Duncanma said:yes, it has been really messed up. I've been working on it since 2am trying to get it back up and running... and I *think* we are doing better now...

Yep, it has reached new levels of crap today.
No idea what's going on, but if it weren't so flakey, how could we be sure we'd come to the right site?

I don't want to be harsh, I don't... but why is it that after years of beta testing (I still consider C9 v4 beta, otherwise I would have had a nervous breakdown a while ago) this platform isn't running at all?
Issue here, Issue there... problem here, problem there... server down here, server down there... performance problem here, performance problem there... ajax issue here, ajax issue there. A lot of features that we had in the old version are still not here...
Why? Could somebody please explain this to me? I don't understand why pages like Digg, Flicker, Facebook, etc. just work despite getting tons of more visits and Channel 9 does not.
And to the argument that this platform is more stable than the old one: I'm not buying that anymore!
Did you guys over-engineer this piece of software? Or what did happen? Please tell me that there are some serious design issues in the platform so that I can deal with it... or at least inform us about what are the issues why this thing so often breaks down... be honest! -
Thank you, Duncanma, for working at 2am to try and resolve the problems here.Duncanma said:yes, it has been really messed up. I've been working on it since 2am trying to get it back up and running... and I *think* we are doing better now...
Just a positive note to counter some of the negatives

Working after 2 in the morning to fix this is commendable, of course, but I really hope the team takes the time to sit down and finally spend a few weeks on fixing C9 soon. It's after MIX, PDC is a while away... is now the time to act?

I always feel that it is in a developer's best interests to ensure a system doesn't need babysitting at 2amBas said:Dr Herbie said:*snip*Working after 2 in the morning to fix this is commendable, of course, but I really hope the team takes the time to sit down and finally spend a few weeks on fixing C9 soon. No problems here in this part of the USA...
EDIT: as soon as I hit the submit button, ie froze... so ignore my the line above. -
The 2am work is HIGHLY appreciated! It's awesome that Duncan is trying to fix the stuff that late at night!
I only think that a 2am nightshift already says a lot about, or the deployment process or the platform per se, or both. -
Maybe Scrum just sucks.littleguru said:The 2am work is HIGHLY appreciated! It's awesome that Duncan is trying to fix the stuff that late at night!

That is an interesting one, that I also have seen here on C9... but only in FF... I actually posted about it at some point and it seemed like no one else was seeing it so I actually wrote it off as a problem related to our proxy servers.GoddersUK said:
Hate to be guessing here, but my other thought was that it was related to the long cookie value issue we saw before with the analytics script on the page. Clearing your cookies would remove that, along with lots of useful info, but it may also remove that issue.

Duncan, I also get credentials prompt this from time to time in IE8. Even here on Channel 9. It doesn't happen that often but sometimes it comes up... If I remember correctly I get it several times per page.Duncanma said:

I get the authentication dialog in IE when I have a topic open for half a day (until after midnight) and then want to navigate to page 2.Duncanma said:

Are you doing a request to Posts.asmx for the next range of posts when you click the Next/Previous page button? Maybe that service is requesting a new authentication.
