Ok, I kind have been putting up with this since ... well, Windows 95

This is obviously not the Winamp icon. If I reboot, it'll be fine ... until Windows decides to give it another random icon.

Ah, I found my Winamp icon. It's attached to my shortcut to Flock.
This literally has been going on since Windows 95 and I was wondering if anyone in the know actually knows what the heck is going on here or if there's a way to fix it permanently?

It's the usual icon cache corruption and nothing can stop it!

Can't say I've ever seen that in Vista. Then again I don't have nearly as many icons in my quick launch, so maybe that has something to do with it.

This is certainly do to some shell extension you have installed (likely somebody's buggy icon handler registered really aggressively).Sven Groot said:Can't say I've ever seen that in Vista. Then again I don't have nearly as many icons in my quick launch, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Do you have any suggestions where I might start looking to see which application may have done this? All of my icons seem to be fine on a fresh boot and then at some point, days later, icons are getting mixed between different application shortcuts. In this case, Flock has my Winamp icon, Winamp has my Tweetdeck icon, but Tweetdeck still has its own icon
But when it happens, I've seen it happen with other application shortcuts.
I don't know if any of these install icon handlers or shell extensions.
Thanks. -
Grab Autoruns, run it, and go to the Explorer tab. There, you'll see a list of all the shell extensions.fknight said:Do you have any suggestions where I might start looking to see which application may have done this? If I'm wrong about this, please correct me.
