If you host Wordpress on your own webserver you can indeed host video. You cannot even host .zip files, and have to save them as .doc files and tell your users to change the file name. You also cannot imbed iframe video or Silverlight or anything like that.
I have never had a spam mail infiltrate my blog posts, if you are a windows live blogger, then you will doubtless be acquainted with being infiltrated by spam.
