How come I have yet to see netbooks using Tegra? Is tegra worth it at all?

It's a cellphone chip, not a netbook one.

Netbooks must die. Under powered, cramped, useless? Smartphone + Full sized notebook PC is the best combo.

Netbook + USB 3G Internet is cheaper than Smartphone + Laptop.
Unless someone knows a cell provider that will give you a smartphone and USB adapter on one plan.

Yes, it is not as powerful, but it is more powerful than Cellphone. And I want it to bring my VS Express with me, without large heavy notebook or the super expensive price of powerful small notebooks. Also I will play my PC games on it.

Tegra is an ARM processor, it won't run x86-based OS like Windows XP / Vista / 7.

What about the ION? http://www.nvidia.com/object/sff_ion.html

NVidia ION is a platform formed by pairing an x86 Intel Atom chip with an NVidia GeForce 9400M GPU.
...like how Centrino is a Core M processor combined with Intel PRO/Wireless and Intel's GMA. It isn't an individual product, but a name of a specific combination of products that ensure a minimum performance/compatibility level for the consumer.

Actuelly, from what i know, nVidia definitely has plans tfor its Tegra to power netbooks (whatever the exact specification of such a device is
). Bass is right, when he says, that it's not a X86, but an ARM one. NVidia tegra
will use Windows CE based OS systems instead of that.As I see it, it actuelly might make a lot of sence. Think about it. You have Web (or not) based MS Office, you've got HD video, great battery life (like dream come true great). You round it up with bunch of other Cloud services and it's a perfect solution for easier work / entertainment or "media center".

In that case, I will stay with something like ION. I want to run Win7 because it seems useless if I can't run VS on it.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I should have read the reviews on their site.
I'd really dig an ION-based netbook.

I can't agree more, if it can't run even one of the express editions then that is not a machine to me but a small bug (as in bug bug)
