Huh? They were just randomly spouting IT-related words, or what?

I wonder if the writers knew it was ridiculous and it's some kind of inside joke?

CSI Miami has totally jumped the shark when it comes to IT.

CSI: Miami jumped the shark the second time Caruso took off his sunglasses.
This clip is from CSI: NY, which has been making practice runs at the ramp for some time. Usually the technobabble isn't that egregious, though the abilities they seem to have to track and detect stuff often are. And it always amazes me the resolution you can get from a crappy webcam on these shows.
Also, there was a subplot in the last season or so where some of the lab techs were in danger of losing thier jobs due to city budget cuts. I kept thinking "if they hadn't bought that holographic full body imaging array for the morgue they might have had enough to pay those techs".

Thread needs an OMG!

From the story: the blog they are reading from provides details that only the CSI team knows. That's where the sexy VB.NET girl comes in to find out who posted that information.

Damn they nailed IT. That's all the Black Hats discuss these days... It is all about VB GUIs!
PS - Jokes aside, it is amazing some of the tools that have been created in VB6.

So she doesn't like command line interfaces, or she hasn't switched to .NET yet; doesn't make her less hot.

She didn't say "Visual Basic 6" either... So, it could still be VB.NET... either way, very hot

Now I know where our sales guy gets his technical knowledge.

I've always been fascinated by the IT setup on 24; every time they need to do anything computery, Chloe has to leave the room to 'open a socket'.

Chloe has to leave the room to 'open a socket'.God I hope that's not a euphemism.

Yeah, there's a lot of that in 24, which always make me chuckle. Day 4 wins though for the line "It looks like someone is trying to corrupt the Internet", pure technical nonsense.

Well, since they were passing all internet traffic through... like 40 servers that make all computer screens flicker when they're turned on everything is possible.
However, it's just displayed with that irrealism, corrupting the internet IS possible, once you got one of those proxy server arrays hacked. Yes, believe it or not, but your ISP runs proxies and could in theory store every damn connection attempt you make.

It is quite funny, but why does she needs to create a new GUI just to get an IP? :o

Because console apps have no place on CSI, obviously she had no other choice but to choose WPF.

That's hilarious!
I always create VB GUI interfaces to track IP addresses. That's my daily job. She's hot
