I wont go in much detail here but basically the site is for, in a sense, speaking out on alot of the false/biased rumors that seem to circle the net about MS's products.
The idea is still very much a concept, but we need YOUR HELP.
That's right..we need everyone's help for this project to work. Each and every one of you. Everyone who can help. Everyone.. ![]()
Here's the wiki in case you would like to know more about the project:
CrashNot.
If you can help us, please do!
Thanks

Well how about a list of things you need help with. And we can't really help unless you have it on a server. Unless you need someone to upload it to a server...
Jamie can help with the design

I haven't crashed a computer once in the 21st century.
-
Getting the actual site up is the biggest problem right now. We need hosting and obviously a domain name as well. I think shaded offered his help for this. We'll see about that.
We need programmers, designers (Jamie), people who can spread the word (after everything's done of course), and most importantly people's input/suggestions of the site.
MS people here on the forums can also help us as well.
This will turn out to be a success if we all help.
Thanks!

Michael Dell could help out and prevent most computer crashes by using better motherboards.
Video drivers are the biggest cause of crashes, so contact ATI and nVIDIA. -

It's not going to be just about preventing computer crashes. That's only half of the site.
A good portion of the content is going to be about telling users that alot of these rumors about things such as "Windows is designed to crash every week" and other humbug.
We will post numerous articles such as those stating why it is important to secure your computer in this day and age, what are you really protected against on Windows and what needs protection, how you can go about protecting yourself, etc.
Perhaps what you suggested, Eagle, would be nice in an article about BSODs. -

And why Linux is poo because it lacks this all-important feature

Roffle.
Well actually, if you can get Mono to work, that would be great
-
unfortunately I don't own the server on the large pipe so it isn't really an option for me to play with the programs
Will ask if I can have a dabble though or if I can get someone to

hmm ive been waiting on commenting on this
1 - its great - another community pro ms thing
but..
2. sort of derived of slashdot / crashnot.. this sort of reminds me of negative energy - something NO one from the ms camp ever really needs to use
ms never says - that sucks - you stink - your wrong
they go off and - yes sometimes take the genesis of idea - but work to make it beter
if this project had a less - negative anti something name - i think it could work well
to all involved - good idea.. im just worried about the end result
as for me - i have winnews.com - that ive never done anything with. I could allow ftp/editing to trusted parties - if you all were to make it a "good news" site - not a negative defensive site
again - just ideas...
its a community - if you think a direct asault on /. is the best medicine - go do it
-
ps - the problem is... there IS no good ms press haha
for a site like that to work - editors would need to re-word the ms news items of the day..into ms dev speak.
hype removed
oss is great but from what youd read - you would think its at 60%!! -
It's not going to be negative. In fact, it's going to be positive all the way. The name...W3bbo will respond on that matter since he came up with it.

We're definitely not going to be like: "SlashDot people don't know anything and all they say is blarney."
We're basically just going to put all of MS technologies in light and say stuff such as: "Windows is in fact secure and we'll tell you why..."
So no, it's not going to be one bit negative.
W3bbo: What's this? Mono!?!!! I thought we wanted to stick with MS stuff.

Well I have a win2k3 box on a 256k connection, if you really wanna host off that then hell feel free! Having problems even making an asp.net page on it though :/

You seem pretty sure that your server is secure
