<p>Seam carving (at least as I've seen it) is typically used to implement content-aware scaling (shrinking the image)--&nbsp; this seems to be the reverse of that process (where you're adding data rather than intelligently removing data).</p>

<p>This is some very impressive stuff, and I'd love to learn how it works...&nbsp; does Microsoft have anyone working in this field that C9 could talk to?</p></p>]]></description>

<p>From the desert example, if you look carefully you will notice it is mostly a repeat of the desert scene to the right of the road. It seems to basically be a rubber stamp tool, but somewhat world aware (ie. trained using ML techniques). As per&nbsp;usual&nbsp;with
 these &quot;tech demos&quot; aka dog and pony shows, I would question it's robustness outside of carefully controlled examples.</p>

<p>Content aware scaling is already available but that was&nbsp;content aware fill which looks very interesting. I'm sure it needs touching up afterwards but it's a good place to start.</p>

<p>I've used Mike Swanson's (<em>yes the guy from the MIX videos</em>) SEAMonster before and it&nbsp;seems to use&nbsp;seam carving to do scaling but that doesn't look like magic the same way this video does <img src='http://ecn.channel9.msdn.com/o9/content/images/emoticons/emotion-5.gif' alt='Wink' /></p></p>]]></description>
