I know but they said the maint was over at 6am .... so that's 3 hours yes but for the folks who are not there why make us wait 3 hours?
unless they think we are going to take down the net by draining all the bandwith ?

I guess they may want to have a few "WOW" moments during the launch and not have half the room already running 2010

Also there is this other Microsoft Event launching the supposed PINK phones and they seem to be focussing on 'Sharing' and social stuff. I'm wondering if there is any connection to development for those phones. It's strange both are announced on same day.
I guess most people in the room will be running the RC at the moment of launch so I'm wondering what "WOW" moments they will put in. Because it does not seem plausible they would launch something completely new (aka Live Framework)

You believe the RTM bits will be available for download @ 8am Las Vegas time?
Is there any precendence for this belief? I haven't followed previous releases this closely in the past...

The Keynote adress starts at 8am Las Vegas Time, it should be avaiable then since today is the release.
They might do something with some button that need to push to symbolicly 'launch' VS2010 so it might be at the end of the keynote. We'll have to wait and see.

All the reports at the moment are that it can be downloaded at 10am PST......so 3 hours 15mins to go....

aL remember they have a farm of servers to update, many times the first 2-8 hours have been a bit erratic with things showing up for some folks and not others... i was hoping the weekend downtime was to pre-load the bits on all the farm so that when i went live this time it would be solid for all of us... oh well ... give it a bit i guess...

Are people expecting the RTM to be any different to the RC? I mean, I'm glad it's final, but bar small fixes it's going to be the same as what we've already got isn't it?

post rc bug fixes like the tablet pc related bug and the itelisence bug fix and the fact that it's the "official" version that you can now tell the boss it's been "Blessed" for support and go live.
that's some good reasons... IMHO
