Where is he?

He recently put up some old PPT presentations on docs.com ...

Yeah, but that's the only place you see him. A keynote or two a year then nothing. How do we know he's on the "pulse" of things.

I vote for the GU as the CEO and public face of MS!

Scott gets up and talks, he has good public presence and seems to always come accross as a good guy who's listening and wants to get it right.

When I see things like Apples iPad taking off, and we hear that the Tablet PC team is more than likely shoved in a dark corner in the Office teams office, we're going to start needing some transparency on things. This is why Microsoft had Scoble, he put a face to things. That seems to be gone now.

I don't see how he has time to hang out with his family as it is

Guy is always blogging, tweeting, flying around on conferences, etc.

He also seems to have the red shirt thing going which is kind of analagous to the black turtleneck of Jobs...

As far as that's concerned whatever happened to J Allard?  No one's seen him since they launched the Zune 80.

The Gu would be a great public face, but to some degree he already is.  Wouldn't want to dilute him from his current efforts any more.  I could see Sinofsky in that role too.  Ballmer has always been a disaster for the company and needs to get booted.  He's old-school Microsoft thinking that just isn't compatible with where the company needs to go.  Who knows what Ozzie is up to since he never shows himself.  In what little I have seen from him, I've never seen anything that made me think he has any clue, so i'd send him packing with Ballmer.
