We're going to see a trend in the next year. A new "open video" is going to come out every 2 weeks, the open source browsers will jump on it just to be up to date and be the kool ones to have it first, and IE9 will have to shove it in even though not much thought has been put into it.
This "openness" we're diving into, I see a lot of security issues upcoming.
At least on Firefox you can disable webm.
