Well, it was totally worth staying up tonight!!!
I downloaded the standard edition, 2.85 GB, of Visual Studio .NET 2005!
It downloaded in less than an hour, nearly 900KB per sec!! ![]()
Now, I'm downloading the Team Suite Beta2 too
(3.75 GB!)
But that one comes in at only 50 K per sec ![]()
Why is that?
And another question: where is SQL Server 2005 beta3, I was hoping that it would be released at the same time... so, is it also imminent, or is it scheduled for a later date?
Thanks.

What's the .NET fwk version?
-
I'm downloading now... Yieeeehaaaaaaaaaa! Finally. I hope with downloading the Team Suite it has included all the stuff I need...

[edit]Finally somebody flipped the switch[/edit] -
if some one has beta 2 in hand, pls tell us a bit about her or his experience with it,esp the differences between beta 1 and beta2...
-
for me:
team suite dl started at about 10:00pm GMT-5 (Florida,USA)
it's now 7:09am and shows 59% complete
ETA keeps chnaging all the time but I think around noon my time.
speed seems very unstable MSDN downloads is going nuts form 40K at times to 95K mostly around 75K
should be like 200K normally -
Who's willing to seed a 'torrent then

-
Shame Microsoft isn't into Torrents then the MSDN subscribers might be getting better speeds.
-
A Microsoft bittorrent client would be pretty cool.

Now it's down at 34 kb/sec. A torrent would be something really nice! -
Well, the speed just seems to depend on the server you're downloading from

After having downloaded the standard edition in less than an hour, I only got a speed of 50KB/s on the Team Suite edition. So I cancelled the download and started again, and guess what: more than 860KB/s again!! So the 3.75 gig of sweet candy was all mine after just an hour and 15 minutes
Oh, BTW, I'm downloading from The Netherlands, Europe, maybe we get better speeds here?
I'll post more of my first experiences with the product later today. -
No, you need MSDN Universal.
-
nah.. I have the professional subscription, and I'm downloading it right now...
-
Okay, so I was wrong.

I doubt library subscription would be enough though... can anyone confirm? -
How are you downloading it? I don't see it in MSDN (Universal Certified Partner) and it's not available in Beta Place. In fact the availability on MSDN contradicts the information we are recieving on the official beta team.
So any info would be great!
Thanks -
Never Mind. It just started showing up a few seconds ago on my MSDN. But it's still not available in beta place and Pro is missing, so I am wondering if this was a mistake. Especially since it wasn't suppose to be here until next week.

Standard get's it. Er.. I mean Professional

MSDN Pro, Ent. and Universal get Dev tools.
as far as I recall OS and Lib do not have them.
