Does it let your eye mouvement control the universe-camera or is it one of those peripherals that checks for body movement so you can control the game with your arms?
Im guessing its something to do with XBox Live. Something like a live web cam while your gaming with your buddies... but the idea of controling the game with your arms would really be cool though

I saw them demo it on G4-Tech TV. It looked pretty stupid and I think they hated it.
$49 is pretty cheap though, my dvd remote for Xbox was more than that and I hardly ever use it. I used to be able to play DVD's on my PS2 and use the game paddle as the remote for free. Go figure.
The Eye Toy looked stupid to me from the start, from what I saw in the commercials.
I kinda agree that the XBox should have played DVDs sans the add-on, but Microsoft trimmed it out so it wouldn't have to pay fees or whatever. For what its worth, the XBox remote has more functionality than could be offered through the controller. -
Wow, I had not seen this until just now.
Looks kinda, well, "trying too hard"-ish.
I know you're sleek and cool with those curves but...the same old controller? Better graphics but no pre-installed hard drive? Sigh. What terrible trade-offs. No improvement on the interactivity or capacity. Just shinier textures.
And no, the 360 EyeToy isn't revolutionary.
*Snooze* I'll wait for PS3, thanks. -

DVD Decoder licensing fees.
If I understood the issue correctly, Microsoft chose not to bundle the licensing fee for DVDs in the base package, but rather to roll it onto only those who wanted it - it's part of the DVD remote price tag.
And please, don't quote any free open-source DVD decoders or DeCSS algorithms. Microsoft is a legal entity and as such licenses the technologies it uses.
Incidently - is the XBox DVD player region-locked? -

Even though DeCSS was made available years ago?
AFAIK, the hard-drive is built-in from the get-go... unlike the PS2's "Expansion bay"

It's a new picture, yes... but just from another angle.

Pppppppppppppppleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Actually what i understand is that the Xbox1 orignally had the capability to play DVD capabilities (playback, etc). But since Microsoft was not a member of the DVD consortium it could not legally have XBox play DVD out of the box without paying licenscing fees. So eventually the end user had to dish out the extra cost. At least thats what i heard.
Now that MS is a part of the DVDC, it can provide DVD capabilities with the box rather than the consumer having to buy an extra add on. -

Only in the sense that it's the connector for the remote that determines which region it plays. If you buy a remote in the UK you'll find you can only play Region 2 DVDs so the trick used to be to also buy a remote from the USA so that you could also play Region 1 DVDs if you wanted to.
