how about add an Smily list just beside the Editor,when a poster wanna add a smily,she or he can click one in the smily list,and that selected smily can be automatically added to the editor box.

Nah don't do it admins. We did become more generic when we added Emoticons yes, but adding a list on the side is just going to far in my opinion. If a user wants to easily add emoticons into their post they might has well go to the Emoticon wiki page.

Well, I don't really like emoticons because they are over-elaborate for my purposes and reduce my reading speed. But if they were to be used- and this is just my personal taste- both of/either the existing channel 9 skin or the emoticons would have to change colour... I find yellow dots on pink really really ugly. (or is there a way of choosing a different skin for channel 9?).
OK, enough procrastinating from me... this is soooo addictive! -

Well, if the XHTML behind Channel9 was a wweeee bit more optimised, me and Jamie could whip up a few more skins. But right now there's too many inline styles that we cannot override in such a way to maintain a consistent appearance accross all major GUAs.

i really hate graphical smileys. text based smileys : ) have some charm because they're typed out, when you replace them with pictures it becomes stupid (doubly stupid since the pictures are always goofy or ugly looking)
