It was crazy to read through the comments on the blog and see that people still find reason to complain. Instead of saying "great, pleased to hear it" they say things like "so what? what a waste of time, we want you to focus on standards...blah blah". I don't see why people can't be a bit more supportive. After all, didn't they all ask for TABS? And that's just one change. I'm sure the team are working on standards too.

Personally I'm looking forward to IE7.

The fact is, tabs aren't that big a deal anymore. Even a few years ago a much larger fuss would be made, but now it seems like the IE Team is merely catching up and not actually leading.

CSS and XHTML, along with the PNG support are very important to those whose jobs/lives depend on how their work is rendered. The trivialization you are seeking is pointed in the wrong direction. Tabs are trivial in terms of advancement. Complying with standards should be the real leadership being shown in terms of the new IE and Microsoft in general.

Another point: Someone else said that IEEXPLORE.EXE could crash and close all of your tabs, which made me laugh. Firefox -can- achieve this same behavior, but I've managed crash Firefox a total of once in the past 6 months. The difference is, with IE I would worry about a browser crash, but Firefox's repeated solid performance puts me at ease.

I think one of the most important steps the IE team needs to achieve is the peace of mind that it a) won't crash repeatedly and b) won't install software (read: Spyware) that isn't explicitly given permission to do so.

This is an important step, but a mere pitstop in the cross-country journey toward a new, and hopefully improved, IE.
