I looked at the Windows Vista site, and note the headbar:
Here's Windows XP:

Here's Windows Vista:

Wasn't this the color used for the PDC toolkit cd's too? I don't remember where I've seen this before.

The new "dark blue" sure looks a lot less "friendly" than the "bright" blue of XP, but I wouldn't say it looks better.
I'm telling you, black is the new blue! -
"she needs to get in the kitchen and cook me some dinner or she'll be both..."Not funny, nevermind.

It's an interesting change.
Is this a temporary color change to represent the fact that Windows Vista isn't out yet?
Or is it a deeper move to change the Windows colors to a deeper shade?
Notice that many of the themes Longhorn has had are the black "Slate" theme. That's certainly darker. -

We're familar that Windows NT6 is more evil than ever, but I doubt that's the intention, if it was it would be a "blood red" or something.

Great more shades of blue, how much darker because i can only see about a 1/3 of that spectrum.

Media Center 2005 blu is darker than the XP one. And I like more.
-
Vista seems darker al the way around, even the flag colors are different.

"The slight marketing change in color themes from Windows XP to Windows Vista is a part of a larger transition from 3.1-era light blue to the eventual black. This gradual change will mirror Bill Gate's gradual progression from Jedi Master to Sith Lord."
What, it's what you wanted to hear, right? -
Bill Gates has always been a Sith Lord. he was hiding it. Allchin is his apprentice. Ballmer is his general.

i do not know why but i need to think on these Windows 95 times when i see the Vista headbar
-
I think the color is supposed to look more professional

It does, but its also a rather sickly color. Some reddish shade (similar to the Office website) would have been better.
