BING Windows 8 App

Looks to be dedicated to Windows 8, maybe IE10? (There is aw8_version variable in there amongst other things) The map is also centered around the BUILD conference location so I guess we might see more then.

Interesting. Doesn't appear to do anything except update the tiles (which update confusingly fast), but interesting nonetheless.

Definitely very finger friendly on my Tablet PC

Do the tiles scroll when you swipe them? Didn't see anything happen when I tried to drag them with the mouse.

No, just scrolling through the results using my finger.  it looks to me like either the home page isn't quite finished or (more likely) requires some windows 8 goodness.

also if you view source on the page / view that comes up on the map view there are things in there that say stuff like Win8  etc...

yeah they need to change how that is working.... or show a button to turn it off!

Ooh, I like the maps UI. Definitely seems tablet-/touch-oriented.

I don't suppose it will happen but I quite like the idea of a BING branded Tablet PC - kind of distancing things a little from Windows without completely losing track of what it's about.

Maybe one coolness step in the right direction without being ridiculous? (EG Branding it an "XBOX Tablet")?

Perhaps I will just have to buy a BING sticker for mine ...

But is this Bing thing a "Windows 8 App"....or is it an "HTML5" app that can be used on all kids of tablets who have modern browsers? If it's a Windows 8/IE10 thing, then are we not back to the IE6 days of coding for a specific browser?

well given the webkit extensions for iPhones and such i'd say we never left .... just new sets ofCR@P / Er wonderfull features to deal with!

really HTML and CSS are never going to render the same on all browsers.... so if you want to make s site great for every client you ither just do the basic site and stop or you make like 10 versions of it.
