I know why they do that. They are affriad of stuff like whitehouse.com (like in year 2000, not now). The problem is they are afraid of the URL because they are not sure it is correct or not. It might as well be a chase.org and for some reason, it is a phising site, or spam, or virus, or whatnot. Using the search engine, I suppose they would think the big company can do a better job, and perhapse law suit if it directed them to a mallicious site.

I don't think in my friend's case this is true. I think it is just habit. I believe he has Google as his home page, so whenever he visits me and he wants to show me something on the web, he first goes to Google (then wants to know why Google isn't my home page), then do whatever he wants from there. I asked him why he does that but he doesn't really know why either - there is no real thought put into it.

I know what you mean. It is bascailly called Google Bookmark. The professor in my school wanted this as well. Basically a new bookmark system to replace Google "Bookmark".

But, for my friend, he used it for that reason, he use Yahoo though. He just don't want to type into the wrong address and he needs spell check.
