The user experience is much like searching for text in documents and on the web. Users type in search terms, the result is a set of links which, when clicked on, will start playing the audio from where those terms were spoken. 

I just read that Microsoft Research has made MAVIS available commercially.  I didn't know but Channel9 video and BUILD videos etc..., are already available here:

It uses embedded Windows Media Player ... but don't tell me it's broken - it was built for IE desktop, so use IE desktop.  Someday they might encode everything for HTML5, but until then you're stuck.

Maybe there are other ways the data that MAVIS reveals can be revealed automatically in context for what the c9 user is viewing.

Maybe the suggested videos on the right of the currently viewed video are from MAVIS data already.

One of the features of MAVIS is to generate tags/keywords from content, so that's great.  It's possible that C9 does already use it, but I like the way the results are displayed on that site, where you can see what they were talking about from a transcript, and use that to jump to certain places in the videos, etc...

It would also be cool to have the ability to have searches come up in realtime, changing based on content of the current sentence/paragraph, or time range of what you are currently watching - i.e. you have automatically updating "related" content shown on the side, with part of the transcript that is relevant.

Clearly, C9 videos make a great test case, especially the hour long geek out sessions.,..). We've been very interested in this technology for a while now, but integration is another story that's not yet written...
