I recently got Pro tools 9 and it installed just fine on the latest OS X on Mac.
Since Pro Tools 9 can roam from machine to machine with the iLok USB key, I decided to install it on Windows as well so I could see which one performs better.
I didn't get any flack from iLok or anything. It just worked.
So I pop the iLok key in Windows, and it can't find the driver.
Then I install Pro Tools 9 and it finally installs the iLok driver. The iLok works and Pro tools launches. But then I get a cryptic message about finding hardware. Pro Tools 9 does not require Digidesign sound cards, so my card was fine for the requirements.
I find out that I actaully have to create a brand new Admin account and install protools there because I can't install it as a regular user in a user account even if I give it admin privileges in the install process (which is what I did on the Mac)
If after those steps your installation is still not going through:
- Uninstall Pro Tools.
- Create a new Administrator User Account
- Restart your computer & sign into the new Administrator Account you've just created.
- Install Pro Tools on this New Account.
Windows 7, it's SOOSOOOOOOOOOOO easy.....
I bet Windows 8 will be even "easier" than a Mac
