In the past similar threads tended to generate a lot of hot air, get very heated and cause rising tides of emotion. After a while, under the pressure of people getting too hot under the collar, civilized discussion collapses ultimately culminating in an Armageddon of thread lockage that permanently ends all future discussion on the thread.
It's ironic and perhaps futile, but warning people of the dangers of emitting hot air on AGW threads could be the only way to save the thread from the bancopalypse...
