@JoshRoss: Actually, one of the predominant reasons I'm friends with people is because we have mutual tastes and interests. Even if we don't, I at least have an idea of their tastes and interests and how they relate to mine.

I have no idea if the predominant Chinese restaurant critic in San Francisco shares my intense hatred of noodles, but I know which of my friends do. I'd rather decide based on what a friend with roughly the same taste in food as me recommends than on what some self-proclaimed expert recommends.

So I think there's something to be said for Graph Search. I like the idea, I just wonder why it's such a huge deal that they made a big mystery press anouncement out of it.. unless they're trying to pull the rug out from under Google in order to become the new kings of (personalized) search.
