This might be worth getting just to use as a browser. If they bring down the price of the 64GB model to around $150, I might get it just to try installing Windows 8 ARM on it.

I am like so totally getting one of these.
I have never bothered to read a review of this HP WebOS tablet. I have no idea what its capabilities are. Now where is that Engadget review I saw a while back?
-
Hmm, bestbuy.com still has them at $300/$400.
Wait, now it's not showing up at all.
-
It looks like all the online retailers that discounted them are sold out.
-
Anyone managed to get one?
Apparently people are porting Ubuntu and Android to it:
-
Rumour is that HP UK will be announcing any discounts tomorrow - I imagine they might have come to their senses by then - I'm guessing GBP249 for the 32GB and GBP179 for the 16GB. (though it would have to be 100 less for each to attract me.)
-
@Ian2: 99 bucks is like 60 quid, £99.99 would do it for me
-
I read that BestBuy sold all 275,000 units they had remaining yesterday. I've also read stories that the BB employees themselves were hoarding them. Bastages.
-
Good for them. They deserve something besides their crappy hourly wage.
-
Well, I ordered one from OnSale by way of Amazon. I've heard about some orders getting cancelled, so let's see what happens.

-
I went into a local Best Buy this morning right after open looking for something else... seeing a pile of people in the PC area I walked towards it and was told by a blueshirt with a clipboard "If you are here for a Touch Pad, we are out."
I had a quick chat with him about the details... sounds like they only had 9 units in stock, people had been lined up since at least 8 am (store opened @10)... and so they started handing out #'s to folks... only to have others try to buy said #'s while in line and well before the store opened.
-
Every place I went to was sold out, out of stock. I ended up buying a case for my BlackBerry PlayBook instead, which cost me about half the price of a 16GB Touchpad.
-
Anyone in the US kind enough to act as a forwarding-on address for one of these? (will pay costs)

-
@Ian2:I may end up with an extra one.
I'll let you know. -
@cbae:Thanks.
-
Update: Just had a go at ordering from the UK via BundleBox and blogged the steps here:

Honestly, what's with the sudden demand for these? There can't be that many people hacking it and putting Android on it.
-
@spivonious:Price drop of 80% and you don't understand the sudden demand?
