It's fantastic that people go to such lengths to do things that have not been done before. Science for the win!

You realize now that you're going to be quoted all over here.

I was following along live as well. Pretty amazing. I had goosebumps when he was standing on the edge of that capsule.
It also struck me that amazing as that jump was, I was also pretty amazed at the fact that only a few years ago all the videos we were watching online were stamp-sized garbage, and now I was watching something live at 1080p. Spectacular.

@Bas: I was watching from a hotel broadband connection, which costs $12.95 per day, and couldn't manage anything more than 240p.

And this is Silicon Valley, so they have no excuse to not have fast Internet connections.

@vesuvius: Whenever someone says that you can't do something in a browser, someone will chirp in and say that the desktop app would cope.

Actually they do. The Internet is actually located in the UK. The tubes running half way across the planet makes it difficult for them to kept clean from various debris.

@JoshRoss: I was going on more about the whole infrastructure i.e. helicopters and the software they use, the measuring software, the video cameras, the streaming software etc. there is a lot more "desktop" type software than people (fanbaby) cares to admit.
