Will give it a try since I lost my cd key for my Win7 Pro, eekkk. I don't like IE10 because it is still in preview with unstable things. Also GPU acceleration crashs me PC, had to use software rendering.

I literatly had to use my mom's PC (my retired PC) to do important tasks. Can't risk using less stable PC for my task.

Don't know if Win8 is faster or not, I have awesome Crucial SSD Big Smile . I think I will get Win8, since I am just way too much a MS fanboy even though I dislike Win8.

 

BTW, any news on Office 2012? These few days throught office really pains me. But, I don't want to buy 2010 when new one is coming out.

Yes, it used to be free, but I think it's always been when you purchase a computer within some timeframe prior to release. It might also have applied to purchases of a retail box of Windows, but that doesn't sound likely, if you think about it.

It seems like the RP has been de-tuned for VMs. With my limited experience, the CP seems to perform much better. One thing in specific, the RP goes into fits and nails the CPUs. For the $15, you get upgraded to Win8 Pro with the Media Pack (WMC, DVD playback, etc.), even if the PC you bought came with Win7 Home Premium. Not such a bad deal, but I think I'll still wait for Windows 8 hardware to come out.

Thanks spiv. So the $15 is to pay for the licensing for DVD playback, etc. That makes more sense. At least you get Pro with it. I hope they extend it back to all W7 purchasers. If they want to help fulfill Sinofsky's vision of 350 million W7 users as a customer base for W8 developers it would make sense rather than leave us with another version of "no comprimise". They gotta get enough momentum on W8 PC sales and upgrades to have a decent customer base for devs to be attracted to building metro apps.

Yeah, I'd love to see a permanent <$50 upgrade price to Win8, but I doubt we'll ever see that. It's odd, because I've read that most Windows purchases are with new PCs anyway, so it's not like MS would be losing a lot of money in the retail market.
