They are calling it MapsGL. Basically Google Earth. In the browser, without plugins.

I did notice this a while ago and switched it on -- but I haven't really noticed any difference.

Tried it on my machine. Street names are missing and it's really slow to scroll.

It doesn't really have any of the features of GE. It's mainly about getting street-view to work without flash from what I can see.

I noticed some POIs are missing in MapGL, won't be using it.
