Having read some of the coments a question i have

@DeathByVisualStudio: Not too many years ago there was a term used by computer programmers called the death march.

The modern programmer, and their managers, now no longer set a release date for software then try to hit that target no matter what, but instead say it will be released when it is ready.

Your avatar looks like you are still on a death march.

My current avatar by the way is of my sisters dog Newt, mother of my dog Mysty, breed of Bouvier de Flanders. The item in front of her used to be a round ball.

This negativity issue is starting to lead a life of it's own.

First it was about negative comments.

Then about negative threads.

Now it's about negative avatars and user names.

And we all want some higher power to fix it for us, to make it more pleasant?

We are perfectly capable of self correcting the trolls, it's a mighty weapon that we can wield, it's called the art of not responding to them.

We don't need a ban hammer, the effect is just the opposite. We get more threads about threads, that don't contribute anything at all. We end up banning the user, rather then just making it clear we as a community don't stand for that type of behavior.

I would prefer a system of self policing, rather than ban hammers. I've issued my fair share of negative comments, but I think that I would be willing to modify the language of a post, if enough people pushed a mean button. What do you all think about having a mean button, right below the spam button? The mean button, wouldn't go to the admins, it would just let you know that your peers believe that you are acting inappropriate.

iPhone begs to differ. We don't have mathmatical formula and statistical data to prove developer is more important. In fact, from the statstical data PS2 and iPhone all gain majority of support through market share, not developer at all. So, developers like us are not important at all. When everyone is buying iPad, we will have to make iOS apps, simple as that.

Until we can prove our claim mathmatically, our opinions value very little.

I am raising this simple issue of Microsoft, math prove statisitcs..... you need to prove it mathmatically. That's my frustration, I really don't want to prove how to make a decent steamed rice. I just want to cook decent steamed rice. But, to prove it is decent, I need to collect various data that define decent, I need to study thermal phyics, meterial physics, human biological reaction to taste and more. For doing all that amazing detailed accurate research, I could have just spend 5 minutes asking my mom how to do it.

That idea has shades of a popularity contest, and could easily be abused. As a community, there are certain standards that were initially instituted by Charles and company, and generally agreed upon by the niners. A warning/ban-hammer doesn't seem like an unreasonable measure. If this were a physical community, you can always smack someone upside the head, and temporary or permabanning seems like a good equivalent.
