What do y'all think?

I don't think so

As much as many people would like there to be one, its existence is impossible to prove, so it requires faith. The researching being conducted into near-death experiences suggests it's all in the mind, and if (or when) they actually prove this would it impact on the belief systems of the faithful? Probably not.

I believe in Omnipotent God, but, I don't think there is Afterlife.
-
I think techies are generally an Agnostic bunch
-
I was brainwashed by Jews and Catholics in my younger days, sometimes I think there is, other times not

Do you want to believe there is an afterlife? Then yes there is an afterlife?
Do you want to believe there isn't an afterlife? Then there isn't afterlife?
Believe want ever you want to believe, as long as keeps you happy and contented.
To me an more interesting is why you are asking? Since the moment you were born, you were destined to die, by some random chance you have a long existence. Organised religion to me, are all about power, money and control, or obfuscating access to certain knowledge. Some time in ancient history some monkey spotted the regularity of the seasons. It though I shall mark the shortest day of the year (Winter Solstice) with a banana eating party (and do the things that banana eating parties lead to), Some other monkey thought I'll plant my corn on this day. Etc. Etc. Later on as the Monkey population grew a more powerful Monkey, though we need a way to teach the seasons, I know create some imaginary monkeys and tell the other monkeys of their exploits, Then some Monkey thought of the concept of basic currency and some other jealous monkey want more of it. It thought I now I'll create a "protection" group to protected and coordinate the other monkeys (state) and I'll charge them a fee (alms / taxes)..

The only thing that I'm absolutely positive about is that there is no evidence of it. Therefore, I live my life as if there isn't.

The good thing about being dead is you dont have to think about this anymore or ponder these questions. So since you will get your answer (we all do) why worry about it now. Religion can be a good social club for many but can go overboard when it becomes more than that.
-
There is, however, an after-party...
I just assume there isn't one, and act accordingly. As an interesting by-product of that, I don't need a book to tell me stories about how to treat people, either.

Is there a BeforeLife?

... I don't need a book to tell me stories about how to treat people, either.
That's debatable.
-
You don't need to have a religion to believe in Afterlife, and vice versa, just FYI.
-
It doesn't matter.
Lies or truth doesn't even matter. It's all a state of mind. Belief is only a tool of the super intelligent.

Maybe he thinks you should start stoning people to death for liking Linux.

Most *nix users are stoned anyway...
Seriously, though, I chuckled. I left myself open and he took advantage of it.
