I've been waiting to see what Anantech had to say about it.

The Verge is far better at doing reviews like this.

Interestingly, at least one of the shortcomings mentioned (no FFC) seems to be addressed in the version Nokia look like releasing in the USA - Lumia 900.

Looks nice except it is not waterproof like the Toshiba model.
ATT will be getting the 900 and calling it........
Ace......I half expect Andrew Dice Clay to advert for it...
My problem? We're not getting the Lumia 800 in the U.S./Canada I think until April(correct?). Now...they have a Lumia 900 they're showing us. It's bigger, probably better. Why would I want the Lumia 800? I think they just killed all of the Lumia 800 hype.

They've said all along that the 800 is meant to be a mid-range device, with the 710 on low-end and the 900 on high-end.
I don't remember the 900 being part of the 710/800 launch though. 800 was the hype. 800 was the push. Now this 900 comes into the picture to kill said 800 hype.
@Harlequin:Personally, if it were not for the lack of the FFC, I'd much prefer the Lumia 800.
The 900 is an LTE device and has a larger battery to support it. It has morphed into a generally larger device. I don't need (or want) LTE and the 900 is simply too big for my liking.
However, the lack of the FFC on the 800 is a bit of a mystery to me - almost as if someone 'forgot' to spec it and they went ahead with production in error.
@Harlequin: FFC = Front Facing Camera
As spivonious said, they have different models for different price points. Also different users have different needs so not everyone wants/needs the biggest baddest phone.
710 - Budget phone with budget specs and inexpensive
800 - Mid-range phone with mid-range specs and price
900 - High-end phone with high-end specs (for WP7) and expensive
@Harlequin: Front Facing Camera.
EDIT: I should learn to refresh an old page before commenting on it.
Anyway, I wonder how long the current generation of Win Phones are going to get updates. I would like to buy a new Win Phone but I don't want the next update to be the last one for this generation. I'll wait until after CES, maybe we will hear something new.
I'd expect Tango to be out by April and Apollo later in the year.
Does anybody know when the Lumina will be available in Germany? If have checked several prepaid websites but none of the operators is offering the Lumina at the moment...
This really might be the comeback for Nokia in Germany and a chance for Microsoft to gain back some market share...
@Mobile_Freak: I just saw this article today. It appears that it is available now.
@ JeremyJ - true if have just checked the vdf website. Many thanks for your hint!
