There were a lot of ads for the WP7 when it first came out... at least there were in the US. They were even fairly decent ads. At the time it seemed like every other ad I saw was for WP7.
Yes, but they were all introductory ads like that one. "Hey something new is here!" They needed to follow them up with "here's why it's better". And the OEMs need to push their phones.

My wife liked the .ppt commercial when it came on last night.

The 'Seriously?' ads for Windows Phone were good. I saw them about twice.

We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done.
IE's new ad is one of the best I've seen from MS in a long time. Catchy tune too, it's all over the radio in the UK.
