Just finished the install here. Seems to be working alright.
Let's just hope the alarm doesn't have any bugs and doesn't fail to wake me up tomorrow morning.
-
I got an invitation, but, I haven't get the actual download tool yet. Not sure I should do it. I am not an actual WP dev yet.
-
@magicalclick: They only send out an invitation to WP7 devs that are registered at the WP7 app hub and paid that $99. If you click the link in that mail, it takes you to the downloads.
-
Given the problems I've previously had updating my Omnia 7, I think I'll let someone else take the plunge first and see how they get on -- it's not just a dev phone, it's my only mobile!
Anyone updated an Omnia 7 yet?

I've updated a htc trophy. Needed to do it twice for some reason.
First time it was done within 5 minutes, second time it took like 30 minutes to an hour.
Don't forget to register your device again as dev device, that's not done automaticly.

Installing it right now

Need to make a backup,..

-
@erik_:
Taha, I clicked those accept boxs and didn't realize I already can download the file after that.
-
@magicalclick: I liked the way every second tick box was a 'you will back your phone up' option

-
Will be having a go when I get home tonight.
-
@PerfectPhase: Oh good, there's someone braver that I am here (not difficult).

Let us all know how it goes ...

I updated two phones. On the second one, I forgot to remove all the media beforehand, so the backup process was taking forever. I cancelled the process midstream, and for a few seconds I was momentarily overcome by this flush feeling (you know the kind that happens when you think you're getting nailed by a cop for speeding but it turns out to be somebody else he's going after?) because the phone appeared to be bricked. I pulled the battery, turned it back one, and it booted up just fine. Whew! I removed all the media, which I already have backed up, and it updated just fine.
-
My wife's Omnia backed up and updated just fine & way quicker than my HD7! (I had loads of crap on mine though - so backup took forever - good idea to restore to factory default before you upgrade (assuming you already have everything backed up of course)
-
@Dr Herbie:Upgrade went fine, took a while and seems really nice, smoother scrolling and the threaded email is good. See what other goodies are in and working.
-
haha, I know, that was awsome.
-
OK, I took the plunge this morning before work and all worked smoothly. I backed up the backup folders onto a thumb-drive for safekeeping.
I shall play with Mango for a day or two, but then I shall probably restore the backup as I have some changes I want to make to my pre-Mango app before Mango comes along. I can always put Mango beta back on later.
Liking the IE9 browser (the fishtank demo works at 28fps on my Omnia 7, which is quite impressive).

@Dr Herbie: Only problem I've had so far is battery is always at 1%
-
@PerfectPhase: Seems fine for me (currently 76%, charged 4 hours ago). I haven't noticed anything amiss yet.
