I was writing an e-mail to two college department heads recommending that each department purchase a three year  MSDN Academic Alliance membership for  Developer AA (online + media) for $1,437 each.

Since both departments use Adobe software for most of their courses, I was curious about what others were saying about Microsoft and Adobe software and ran across this article.

Microsoft buying Adobe would fix both companies' Apple problem

 

Makes a lot of sense to me.

Please Steve buy Adobe!

Too expensive, too much duplication and I don't see it helping them make big marketshare gains in mobile & cloud.  I do see them entering into some sort of partnership around TV & cloud.

If they think they can make money from the deal without changing anything at or about Adobe (ie no changes to products, branding or staff) then it makes sense.  If savings would have to come from consolidation then I'm not so sure it is a good idea.  (But then I'm not the head of a multi-national conglomerate myself).
