Singularity may be a starting point  or conceptual prototype of Midori initially, but I think Midori has gone far beyond the scope and scale of Singularity now. I guess such an incubation project must be super fast pacing and often changing radically. It seems like the current focus is on modern UX architecture and safe concurrency model, they even want a new language to do that.
