Well, the first hurdle of the day is gone (yay, Italy!) so now I can properly concentrate on this, hoping that they announce that new fax-printer I saw months ago in the labs...

I doubt the OEM's are or should be too worried about MS hardware atleast unless it really is something exceptional at exceptional price point. And what really is the chance of that? Even if it was really exceptional tablet at must get price then if it's not Intel based it still won't be that interesting that I'd even consider it.
Frankly, the only device atm I'd love to get is updated Sony PRS-T1 or similar, this time with larger and higher res display for improved PDF etc reading. If I were rich I'd also look into getting Sony pvm-2541 and Red Ray projector (when available if it's any good).

@androidi: Maybe Microsoft is resurrecting the CRT.

It is a Microsoft branded tablet called "Microsoft Surface".
First to break it here, on Channel 9. I win!

So what happens with the coffee table Microsoft Surface? Is that going to be Microsoft Surface Coffee Table Edition?
-
That version is being sold by Samsung already. It's called the sur40.

This really looks like it could kill the market for traditional laptops, if they can get it out at a competitive price (and this looks somewhat like a premium device...).
It really looks like it has all the benefits of a tablet and all the benefits of a laptop - I'd seriously consider one. The problem is I can't see them getting this out at a price point that's under say £700 (over £1000 pounds wouldn't surprise me...)

The Verge is blogging it live with constantly updating photos.

If this is true... certainly gives weight to their claim that it's possible to touchtype on.

Availability will dovetail with the Windows 8 launch. That's for RT. Pro doesn't come until about three months later.

So, this gives me some understanding of why Microsoft hasn't seemed so concerned about keyboard/mouse input with Metro/desktop metaphors when they are making the hybrid hardware to go with it.
